About

Foster Pepper organized its efforts in waste reduction and recycling in 1991 with the creation of a “Green Team” and participation in the Law Firm Waste Reduction Network. In 1995 the Network obtained a grant from the City of Seattle and Seattle Public Utilities. With this grant (and additional funding from Foster Pepper), the group wrote a guide book for the legal industry titled The Case for Waste Prevention, which was provided to every law firm in King County. The book’s recommendations became the foundation of Foster Pepper’s Environmental Program.

In 2005 Foster Pepper was awarded First Place in The BEST Awards (Businesses for an Environmentally Sustainable Tomorrow) through Seattle City Light, Seattle Public Utilities, and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, in the Waste Reduction and Recycling category.

Most recently, Seattle Public Utilities recognized a group of firms including Foster Pepper for pledging to reduce paper use through strategies such as double-sided printing, electronic file archiving and paperless billing.
