Brian's varied experience includes compliance with FDA, USDA, TTB and FTC laws and regulations; alcoholic-beverage licensing and compliance among all tiers in all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico; acquisitions, leasing, service contracts, distributorships, sponsorships, co-packing and co-manufacturing and other transactions; and corporate matters, including formation, amendments, mergers and acquisitions and dissolutions.

As a trusted advisor with deep industry knowledge and experience, Brian helps clients successfully navigate the legal and regulatory complexities of highly regulated activities. His keen understanding of emerging technologies empowers him to provide practical guidance on the application of relevant state and federal laws and regulations to artificial intelligence, blockchain, biotechnology, e-commerce, social media and robotics. He also has substantial experience with consumer brands and luxury law, advising high-net-worth individuals, auction houses, importers, distributors, retailers of high-end wines and spirits and luxury hotels on a variety of legal and regulatory issues, including tariffs, international trade, advertising laws, investment strategies and commodity-specific regulations.

Brian speaks and writes frequently about the laws and policies affecting food and alcoholic beverage companies. He authored FSMA on the Farm, a comprehensive legal handbook designed to assist agribusinesses in understanding how FDA food safety rules apply to their operations. His scholarship has appeared in the Journal of Food Law and Policy and Research Handbook on International Food Law.
