As of May 2016, 24 states and the District of Columbia have laws legalizing marijuana in some form. As one of the first states to legalize marijuana for medical, then recreational use, Washington employers (and their counsel) have the benefit of experience in adjusting to the changing times. This webinar offers practical policy guidance to employers to help alleviate the challenges of cannabis legalization and address the impact of these laws on the workplace.
This webinar, presented by attorneys from Foster Pepper's Employment & Labor group, will provide an overview of the historical, legal and scientific context of marijuana legalization in Washington state. Topics include:
-
- History of cannabis
- Legal status of marijuana possession, sale and use
- Discrimination/accommodation rights of cannabis users
- Drug testing - science and the workplace
- Variations in the union workplace
- Impact of health and safety laws
- Employer policies
The speakers will take questions from the audience following the presentation. If you have a question you would like addressed during the presentation, please email Price Herriage-Wilson at price.herriage-wilson@foster.com.
