The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) recently filed a formal request to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reconsider its decision to reinstate the so-called FM Duplication Rule. Brad Deutsch was recently quoted in Radio and Television Business Report and featured on the  InFocus Podcast, presented by dot.FM, to discuss the FM Duplication Rule.

This controversial decision, finalized in a June 2024 order, has sparked significant criticism from radio industry stakeholders. The reinstated rule restricts commonly operated commercial FM stations in the same market area from having more than 25% overlapping content in their broadcasts. The original rule was repealed in 2020, but the FCC’s June 10, 2024, vote saw a return of this regulation in a 3-2 party-line decision.
