After the Federal Communications Commission voted last week to repeal the almost 80-year-old Main Studio Rule, which required television and radio broadcasters to maintain a home base near their community of license, Brad Deutsch discussed in a Law360 article how the longstanding rule did not really produce the outcomes that had originally been intended.
In April 2017, GSB’s Communications, Telecom and Media Group petitioned the Federal Communications Commission to rollback the Main Studio Rule, citing its “regulatory and economic burden” on broadcasters, particularly small stations.
