Foster Garvey announces today the promotion of Kelly Mennemeier to Principal in the firm’s Seattle office, effective January 1, 2025.
Kelly is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer with a track record of achieving favorable outcomes for clients in tribal and state courts in Washington, as well as federal courts throughout the country. Since joining the firm in 2017 as an associate, her practice has focused on complex civil litigation, including trademark and copyright litigation. Beyond intellectual property, she has cultivated a strong presence in tribal law, working closely with tribal clients on treaty rights, natural resources and employment-related issues. Kelly was recognized in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for her Intellectual Property and Labor and Employment litigation practice.
As Co-Chair of Foster Garvey’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee, Kelly leads initiatives to provide vital legal assistance to those in need. In 2024 alone, she completed more than 100 hours of pro bono service, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to her community.
One of the recent pro bono matters Kelly worked on was a jury trial in which she led a Foster Garvey team in representing an incarcerated individual at trial. The jury found that the client’s Doctor and Nurse Practitioner in prison were deliberately indifferent to his serious medical needs, failing to prescribe or suggest treatment for severe pain caused by an underlying medical condition. The jury awarded the client a total of $400,000 in compensatory damages and $1,000 in punitive damages against each defendant, finding that the withholding of medical care was a violation of his constitutional rights.
